Mis Barbies y yo seguimos viajando y trayendo novedades.
Esta vez el evento se realizó en un interesante lugar de Madrid, de esos sitios pequeñitos y con encanto que le hubiesen gustado a Truman Capote o a Jack Kerouac; un "cafetín cultural" llamado Hislibris Tabernae.
En la parte de abajo del local me invitaron a exponer algunos de mis diseños confeccionados a mano desde Mi Abuela y Yo Barbie Shop, junto a una sorprendente, original y magnífica colección de ¡patitos de goma!
La experiencia fue estupenda y lo pasamos muy bien rodeados de un ambiente alegre y distendido. Mis "pequeñas" tuvieron mucho éxito y han vuelto a casa con el ego por las nubes.
Agradezco muchísimo a Miguel Ángel, a Virginia (mi compañera de expo y dueña de los patitos de goma), a mis fieles ayudantes (love you family! <3), a todos los asistentes y por supuesto a Hislibris Tabernae.

What's up dearies?
My Barbies and I keep on travelling and taking part in so thrilling and exciting things.
This time the event took place at an interesting snack bar/coffee house in Madrid. One of those little spots which would have been frequented by Truman Capote or Jack Kerouac, a cultural coffee called Hislibris Tabernae.
They invited me to exhibit some of my own designs handmade by me for Mi Abuela y Yo Barbie Shop at the cellar of the bar. I was not alone, but hand by hand with a surprising, original and wonderful collection of rubber bath ducks!
The experience has been fantastic, we had a great time surrounded by a cheerful and chilled atmosphere. My "little lovelies" were very successful and they have returned home shiny and going up the wall.
I want to greatly thank Miguel Ángel, Virginia (my "partner in crime", owner of the duckies), my beloved and faithfull assistants (love you to the Moon and beyond family! <3), all those present and of course, Hislibris Tabernae.
Hoy voy a hablaros sobre una muñeca muy especial en mi vitrina. Reina de reinas. Se trata de Grease Barbie Doll, Collector Edition 2003.
Con motivo del 25 aniversario de la película Grease, Mattel dedicó una colección de Barbies de edición limitada a algunos de los personajes del musical.
Sandy.
Rizzo.
Frenchy.
Cha Cha.
La primera de ellas fue Sandy Olsson en la espectacular, mítica y archirecordada escena final de la película, y ella es exactamente una de mis “niñas mimadas”; de la que os quiero hablar hoy.
Todos tenemos en la mente a Olivia Newton-John transformada de inocente niña de faldas de vuelo en impresionante mujer enfundada en ajustadísimos leggins negros, con chupa perfecto negra, pelo rizado, tacones, labios rojo pasión y pitillo en la boca. Barbie reproduce a la perfección el espíritu de la escena en que Sandy deja boquiabierto a Danny y a sus amigos mientras comienza a sonar el You’re the one that I want.
Los detalles son como siempre cautivadores. Barbie calza los zuecos rojos de Olivia, sus pendientes de aro, la chaqueta motera con forro rojo e incluso el esmalte de uñas también rojo en manos y pies. El maquillaje es asombrosamente fiel al que Sandy luce en la escena de la película y su sonrisa captura la dulce esencia de Sandy Olsson camuflada el día de fin de curso tras el mítico: “¿Estás disponible, nene?”
Algunas curiosidades:
-Por muchos es conocida la anécdota según la cual, poco antes de comenzar a rodar la escena, los ajustadísimos pantalones de Olivia se rompieron al metérselos casi con calzador. El problema se resolvió camuflando costura con el cinturón plateado que podemos ver en el resultado final. Barbie también lleva ese cinturón.
-Mientras que otras muñecas de esta serie adquirieron mayor protagonismo ocupando un puesto en numerosas vitrinas de coleccionistas, esta First in a Series no cuajó del todo en un primer momento, revalorizándose en años posteriores de manera curiosa (y merecidísima) para los observadores de estos caprichosos factores.
-La chaqueta de la muñeca reproduce detalles como el cinturón, las estrellas sobre las hombreras o las cremalleras de las mangas, con una fidelidad absolutamente sublime.

Today I will write about a very special doll in my showcase. Queen of queens. I am talking about Grease Barbie Doll Collector Edition 2003.
In occasion of Grease movie 25th anniversary, Mattel created a limited edition collection with some of the musical characters.
The first one was Sandy Olsson in the spectacular, mythical and remembered film's final scene, and she is one of my "coddled children"; the one of which I want to talk today.
All we have in our minds Olivia Newton-John transformed from innocent girl with sweet skirts into a stunning woman clad in tight black leggings, with leather biker jacket, curly hair, high heels, red lips and cigarette in her mouth. Barbie reproduces perfectly the spirit of the scene when Sandy left Danny and his friends absolutely stunned, and You're the One That I Want began to sound.
The details are captivating as always. Barbie wears Olivia’s red clogs, her earrings, the biker jacket with red lining and even the same red nail polish in her fingers and toes. Makeup is amazingly faithful to the one that Sandy wears in the scene and his smile captures the sweet essence of Sandy Olsson disguised the last school year day with the legendary: “Tell me about it, stud”.
Some trivia:
- For many of you it is known the anecdote whereby, shortly before shooting the scene, the tightest pants that Olivia wore broke up. The problem was solved with a silver belt that camouflaged the seam, and which we can see in the final result. Barbie also wears that belt.
-While other dolls in this series grew in greater protagonism taking up a place in numerous collector’s showcases this First in a Series did not take off completely at first, appreciating in later years in a curiously(and deserved) way for observers of these capricious factors.
-Doll’s jacket reproduces details like the belt, the stars on the shoulder straps or zippers on the sleeves, with an absolutely sublime fidelity.

Hoy estoy aquí para contaros como algunas Barbies de mi vitrina (no todas puesto que a algunas de ellas, al ser de colección no se les puede quitar la ropa) han dicho NO al uso de pieles.
Las primeras celebrities en unirse a esta campaña de PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) fueron las chicas del grupo The Go-Go’s en el año 1991,Gina Schock, Kathy Valentine, Belinda Carlisle, Jane Wiedlin, y Charlotte Caffey, y a ellas han querido emular mis muñecas.
En los últimos años hemos podido ver a numerosas actrices, modelos, presentadoras, cantantes, mostrando su cuerpo para esta excelente causa como por ejemplo Eva Mendes o Christy Turlington.
Y es que no es difícil combinar moda y amor hacia los animales. Actualmente existen tejidos que imitan incluso el tacto suave de un abrigo de piel, y abrigan igual o más que los hechos con el sufrimiento de seres vivos.
Algunos diseñadores de renombre se han unido a la moda “cruelty free” (libre de crueldad) mostrando su repulsa hacia el empleo de pieles y presentando colecciones libres de ellas. Calvin Klein, Stella McCartney, Ralph Lauren, Vivienne Wetswood, Tommy Hilfiger (cuyas fragancias son también cruelty-free), Betsey Johnson y Charlotte Ronson son algunos de esos diseñadores que dan ejemplo de que la moda no ha de ser sinónimo de crueldad. I am here today to tell you how some of my Barbies (not every because some of them cannot be remove from their clothes) have said NO to fur.
First celebrities who joined this PETA’S campaign are The Go-Go’s girls in 1991, Gina Schock, Kathy Valentine, Belinda Carlisle, Jane Wiedlin, and Charlotte Caffey, so my Barbies have tried today to emulate them.
In recent years we have seen to many actresses, models, hostesses, singers, showing their body for this great cause; for example Eva Mendes and Christy Turlington.
And it is not difficult to combine fashion and love for animals. Currently there are fabrics that mimic even the soft touch of a fur coat, and they are as hot as or even hotter than the others made with the suffering of living beings.
Some famous designers have joined the cruelty-free fashion world showing their aversion to the use of fur and featuring fur-free collections. Calvin Klein, Stella McCartney, Ralph Lauren, Vivienne Wetswood, Tommy Hilfiger (whose fragrances are also cruelty-free), Betsey Johnson and Charlotte Ronson are some of these designers who exemplify that fashion should not be synonymous with cruelty. Barbie has dressed some of them as Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren and here you can find more information about them:
Aquí estoy para presentaros a otra de las habitantes de mi vitrina, una de mis preferidas. Se trata de Barbie Heidi Klum, una Pink Label del año 2008 perteneciente a la colección The Blonde Ambition (integrada por Heidi, Marilyn Monroe y Goldie Hawn) creada por Mattel en colaboración con la top model alemana.
Barbie luce para la ocasión una larga melena rubia con suaves ondas, larguísimas pestañas y grandes pendientes dorados. El vestido reproduce el utilizado por Heidi durante una actuación junto a su ahora ex marido, el cantante Seal, acontecida durante el Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show del año 2007; un modelo de lentejuelas rosas y doradas. El look se completa con unas originales sandalias de tacón doradas con detalles en rosa.
Algunas curiosidades:
-El anillo que lleva Barbie, es una reproducción del diamante amarillo de 12 quilates que Seal regaló a Heidi en su compromiso.
-Es la primera Barbie que lleva un conjunto de ropa interior compuesto por un sujetador y una braguita rosas pintadas. No solo se trata de un pequeño homenaje a la archiconocida firma de lencería Victoria’s Secret para la que Heidi es modelo (o más bien ángel, como son conocidas las modelos de la marca), sino que se trata de un expreso deseo de la top, a la que de pequeña le daba cierta rabia que sus muñecas Barbie no llevaran nada bajo la ropa.
-El vestido está ligeramente modificado del original del que es copia también por deseo de Heidi, quien quería que tuviera muchas lentejuelas rosas para que esta Barbie fuera la favorita de su hija. La parte de atrás del vestido muestra menos espalda que el que la espectacular modelo lució en 2007 por cuestiones de recato.

Hi Barbieaholics!
Here I am again because I want to introduce you other of my showcase’s resident, one of my favorites. This is Barbie Heidi Klum, a 2008 Pink Label from the collection The Blonde Ambition (composed of Heidi, Marilyn Monroe and Goldie Hawn) designed by Mattel in collaboration with the German super model.
Barbie looks gorgeous for the occasion with her wavy long blonde hair, looong lashes and big old earrings. The dress reproduces the one which Heidi wore during a Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show performance in 2007 with her now ex husband, Seal; a little gold and pink sequins dress. The look is completed with high heels gold sandals with pink details.
Some trivia:
-Barbie’s ring is a reproduction of the twelve-carat yellow diamond that Seal gave Heidi for their engagement.
-This is the first Barbie Doll wearing a lingerie set composed by a pink bra and slip painted on her body. It is not just a little tribute to the well-known lingerie brand Victoria’s Secret for which Heidi is a model (or rather an “angel”), but it is a wish expressed by the Top Model, because she remembers how much she hated when she was a little girl, that her Barbie Dolls wore nothing under clothing.
-The copy dress that Barbie wears is slightly modified from the original in order to another Heidi’s wish, who wanted a Barbie with many, many pink sequins, so that was her daughter’s favorite doll. The spectacular original dress’s back is a little bit less spectacular in Barbie’s dress because of modesty reasons.
